Bracknell Amateur Radio Club (BARC) meets at Bracknell Methodist Church, Shepherds Lane, Bracknell at 8pm on the second Wednesday of each month. Click here for a map.
To find Bracknell Methodist Church take the Binfield Road B3018 from Bracknell town centre. Shortly past the Total garage turn right into Shepherds Lane at the crossroads. The church is located several hundred yards down on the left, just past the Prince of Wales public house. The car park is at the rear off Agar Crescent.
The Club aims to meet the needs of all interested in amateur radio, and has a varied programme of guest speakers, surplus sales, members' interests evenings, and social evenings.

Building work is currently being carried out at Bracknell Methodist Church. During this time the club will be meeting in the worship area of the Church with access via a door at the right-hand side of the building. Parking is severely restricted during the build phase.

Bracknell ARC will be on air on Monday 24th June as part of the RSGB Centenary celebrations when it tours Region 9. We plan to be operating from the scout hut in Freeborn Way throughout the day on the HF and VHF bands. See g4bra.org.uk/g100rsgb.htm for more details which will be added to nearer the time, all assistance will be welcome on the day and on the Sunday for setting up.
At our May meeting John Jackson M6JJL from Radiometrix gave us a fascinating talk on the use of low power licence exempt radio devices (433/458/869MHz) to remotely control antenna rotators and similar. The Raspberry Pi micro computer and its accessories formed a key part of the equipment he had on display, along with some working demonstrations.
Successful candidates at a recent course
The club is now able to offer courses for the amateur radio examinations. The first of these was a Foundation Licence course held on Saturdays September 8th and 15th 2007 at our club meeting place, Bracknell Methodist Church. Several more courses have been held since and a high pass rate has been achieved at all our courses.

In addition to our monthly meetings, the Club participates in amateur radio contests organised by the RSGB. See our contest pages.
Other activities in our calendar include a barbecue, bring and show evening, and participation in local rallies.
The Dave Sugden Memorial Trophy is awarded annually by the committee to the member considered contributing the most to club or amateur radio activities.

Weather unfortunately put paid to our hopes of entering VHF NFD in July 2012. Although the group did arrive on site, our usual one at Cerne Abbas in Dorset, by Saturday morning it was obvious that trying to erect antennas and operate in one of the wettest weekends in South West England was not going to sensible so the team reluctantly headed back home. We hope to be on in 2013!
