October 2021 Meeting – Introduction to DMR

For our October Club Meeting, Colin M0XCA and Steve M7TED gave a presentation on Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) which included an introduction to DMR and it’s basic concepts, an example of configuring a channel into a digital radio and demonstrations of simplex private and group calling.

The second part of the presentation concentrated on using DMR Repeaters and building and configuring a Pi-Star based DMR HotSpot using a Raspberry Pi Zero W and an Multi-Mode Digital Voice Modem (MMDVM).

Some of the additional features available via DMR such as SMS Text messaging, SMS Radio to Mobile Phone, APRS information services and POCSAG/DAPNet Pager messaging were also demonstrated.
