Commercial HF Radio by Mike G4KFK and March Construction Club Meeting
Our March Meeting at the Priestwood Community Centre promised to be a busy and active meeting and it did not disappoint. The meeting was to be a concurrent monthly meeting with presentation alongside our first Construction Club of 2026. This meant for an earlier than usual start at 7pm and a late finish, with Paul G4HLF our Club Secretary hosting the evening.
Long term Club Member Mike G4KFK, one of our favourite speakers, shared some of his vast experience of Commercial HF Radio. Running us through so of the Technical Aspects of Equipment, Antennas and propagation to using Selective Calling, Automatic Link Establishment, TTY and Data. Mike supported his presentation with some great slides, videos and demonstrations as always.

Running concurrently with Mike’s presentation was our first Construction Club of 2026. Roy M0WTP and Gareth M7GRB had selected the LARCSet 40m CW/SSB Transciever for our assembly project. This uses a pre-soldered SMD board but leaving many discreet components to be soldered, coils to be wound and the transciever assembled and tested. Building together and with the experts on-hand, this is a enjoyable way to start construction your own equipment.

Paul M9XPN ran through a cram-packed event calendar available for all members to enjoy throughout 2026. There is something for everyone in the long list of activities.

Our Brickworks Campaign is really picking up momentum with a further two members achieving their Bronze Awards. Callum M7TRA and Ray M8RWJ completing their achievements for the first 3 points and their Bronze Awards
Thank you to everyone who attended, joined in and helped make the meeting a great success.
