POTA DX from Ashenbury Park (GB-4654)
The Bracknell Amateur Radio Club (BARC) successfully completed a fantastic Parks On The Air
(POTA) activation on Sunday 2nd Nov, setting up two stations at GB-4654 Ashenbury Park.
The sunny afternoon proved to be an excellent opportunity to test our portable setups and reach
out to the wider amateur radio community, delivering a truly global performance!
Mission Accomplished
72 DX Contacts Logged
The activation was a huge success, with operators logging a grand total of 72 Quality QSOs
(Contacts). Our signal truly travelled far and wide, demonstrating excellent propagation across
multiple bands.

Statistics
- POTA Park Ref – GB-4654 (Ashenbury Park)
- Total QSOs – 72
- Bands Used – 15m, 20m, 40m
- DX Report: From UK to Venezuela!
The highlight of the day was the incredible DX (Distance) we managed to achieve. Operators worked stations right across the Atlantic, proving the strength of the setup under the current band conditions.

Notable DX contacts included:
- USA (Fantastic to cross the pond!)
- Venezuela (A rare and exciting log!)
- Gran Canaria (Always a pleasure to reach the Canary Islands)
- Finland & 🇸🇪 Sweden (Excellent Nordic contacts)
- Central Europe (A host of contacts across the continent)
- UK (Solid domestic contacts and park hunters)
The 15m and 20m bands were particularly productive for the long-haul contacts, while 40m
provided reliable local and European QSOs as the afternoon progressed
