Successful POTA Activation at Cabbage Hill Park!
Last night, Bracknell Amateur Radio Club held its latest Parks on the Air (POTA) activation at Cabbage Hill Park in Bracknell. We had a fantastic turnout, with around 15 members and friends joining us for the evening!
The weather was perfect, and Cabbage Hill Park proved to be an excellent location for our setup. We quickly got our station up and running, thanks in part to Gopan M0XUU’s ICOM IC-705 and a manual ATU. We paired this with an 88ft doublet antenna for our SSB operations.

We kicked things off on 20m, and despite the band being a bit quiet initially, we still managed to log some interesting contacts, including stations in Italy and Poland. As the evening progressed, we shifted to 40m, and the band really picked up, allowing us to make a total of 25 contacts! This included two exciting park-to-park contacts.

It was great to see several members taking the opportunity to get on the microphone and try their hand at logging. Beyond the radio operations, it was a wonderful evening for everyone to catch up, share experiences, and enjoy the camaraderie.
Another very successful BARC POTA event in the books!
