Saved by CW – Lily Hill Park (GB-4293) POTA Activation

It had been a wet and windy day, but the sun came out in the evening so the intrepid members of Bracknell Amateur Radio club ventured out to Lily Hill Park (GB-4293) in Bracknell to activate the location for Parks on the Air (POTA).

Conditions were poor due to the sun throwing a Coronal Mass Ejection at the earth, but we plodded on.

On Single Side-band Daniel (G4DGC) and Mick (G0MGK) used Mick’s Xiegu G90 to make just four contacts on 20m, but we did make one Park to Park contact with Romania.

The activation was rescued by Dave(G3YMC) using morse on Paul’s(G4HLF) Yaesu FTx1. A total of 20 contacts were made, all on the 40m band.

Thanks to Graham (G3TFL) for keeping us going with chocolate biscuits!

The total score was 24 contacts, so we managed a solid activation and went home happy, but rather cold due to the biting wind!
