Annual Club Auction & Showcase
Although our club holds an annual Junk Sale, this year, with a growing membership and wide range of interests, we thouhgt we’d try a club auction. The meeting also included a Members’ Showcase of projects, builds and current interests from our members.
As is usual, our meeting started with updates from our committee on the expansive range of club activities. These included updates on our Club, POTA and Contest events, planned Social events and Construction Club plans. An increasingly popular activity is member progression in the RSGB Brickworks Scheme. This month Daniel G4DGC was delighted to present Rob M7RFR with both his Bronze and Silver Awards.

Our club members had generously donated a huge range of items all of interest to radio amateurs and electronics enthusiast. These included, 4 Metre and 6 Metre radios, VHF/UHF Handhelds and Radios, Chargers, Antennas, Satellite Equipment, HF SDR receivers, Tools and much more.
The auction was clearly an attraction to many members, with a high attendance and lots of interest in some of the items. There was something to appeal to everyone, whatever area of the hobby interests you.
Our auctioneers, Paul G4HLF and Paul M9XPN were clearly made for the job, quickly raising interest in each item with descriptions and applications they could be used for. As always with club sales and auctions, all items represented incredible value and also offered members a chance to pick-up items they had been searching for.

Some of the items were members’ private sales with the club charging a small commission for the sale. All other member donated items were sold to raise clubs funds for which the committee are very grateful and will help us offer as many activities and events as possible. Our auction is sure to become an annual event.
With so much kit available the auction ran for around 80mins, following which our members had time to take a look at some of the fantastic projects completed and some still in progress by other members. Once again, the level of expertise and skills demonstrated by the projects was at a very high level. From complete renovation of military radio equipment, to builds of the latest QRP Labs kits and Satellite Technology.

As always, a big thank you to everyone that joined us for the evening, potential new members and visitors and all that helped us raise funds and helped set-up and clear-up afterwards.
