145 Alive and POTA GB-4277 Frost Folly on International Amateur Radio Day.
It was a beautiful spring day, the sun was shining, the sky was blue, and Bluebells were appearing. So members of Bracknell Amateur Radio Club headed to Frost Folly to get on the air in the sunshine.
Not only was it International Amateur Radio Day, It was ‘Support your Parks’ day for Parks On The Air (POTA), and also 145 Alive which aims to headline the use of the 2m amateur band. 33 contacts were made for 145 Alive using the GX4BRA callsign, with Daniel G4DGC and Ed M8GSY doing a fine job from the car park. Furthest contacts being Firle Beacon just outside of Eastbourne, Kent, East London, Swindon, St Albans and lots locally.

Chris M7XCF and Toby M7TBQ headed into the park and made 12 contacts using SSB on the 20m band, while Mick G0MGK and Graham G3TFL fired up on the 40m band using FT8 digital mode, making 9 contacts.

We were assisted and supported by other enthusiastic members of the club, who kindly helped set up and pack away. It was a lovely day to play and talk radio, and chat with members of the public about our hobby.
