A fun day at the VE80 Celebrations at Farley Wood Community Centre

On Saturday 4th May 2025, Bracknell Amateur Radio Club joined in the VE80 Day Celebrations at the Farley Wood Community Centre.

The event was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate VE80 Day, meet the public and to enjoy the summer fete environment of stalls, refreshments (especially the WI Cakes) and live 40’s music from the Polka Dots.

Paul G4HLF had organised a Special Event Station for the club for it’s VE80 Day operation, GB6VE. Throughtout the day members of BARC established 100 Contacts across Europe, sharing the celebration and remembrance of Peace and Victory in Europe.

It was also fun to introduce Amateur Radio to some of the 1st Binfield Brownies who also had a stall at the event. The girls spoke on-the-air to contacts across the UK and europe and took to the Mic operation and use of the Nato Alphabet really well, successfully picking out the voice QSOs from some of the noise on 40m.

Thank you to everyone involved in organising and running this special local event.
