Club POTA activation of Lily Hill Park GB-4293
What a fantastic evening for the Bracknell Amateur Radio Club! Last Thursday, June 12th, marked our fourth club Parks On The Air (POTA) activation, and it was a resounding success with a brilliant turnout of 15 club members.
The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly showcasing the recently constructed QMX+ QRP radios, expertly built by our very own Mick G0MGK and Graham G3TFK. These compact but powerful radios were put through their paces, and they certainly delivered!
We kicked off the evening with a demonstration of FT8, a popular digital mode. Despite challenging band conditions, we still managed to log 8 QSOs on 40m – a testament to the skill of our operators and the capabilities of the QMX+.

Following the FT8 session, Gopan M0XUU and Dave G3YMC took to the key, operating the QMX+ on CW (Morse Code) for the rest of the evening. Their dedication paid off, securing an additional 6 contacts, bringing our grand total to 14 QSOs and making for a very successful POTA activation for the club!
We were also incredibly lucky with the weather – it was very kind to us, and the location at the Summer House in Lily Hill provided the perfect backdrop for our radio adventures.

Overall, it was a truly successful and enjoyable evening for everyone involved. The QMX+ radios proved themselves to be excellent QRP radios for both FT8 and CW, and we’re impressed with their performance.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and made it such a memorable and productive event! We can’t wait for the next one!
