EGM, Construction Club and Club Operating Evening – 28 May 2025
Our club is continuing to grow in all areas, including membership, activites, skills and experience. Our May meeting included both the second BARC Construction Club meeting alongside our first Club operating evening, using our club callsign G4BRA since relocating to our new venue.
Construction Club
The construction evening, headed by Roy M0WTP and Gareth M7GRB, saw members building a 6-way relay driven Antenna Switch and an End-Fed Long Wire, selected as fun and useful projects to build.

Club Secretary Martin 2E0XBZ had brought along a large selection of New-old-stock CB items that had been donated to the club and for our members to use.
Extraordinary General Meeting
The construction club started at 7pm, but was paused at 8pm for a short Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) where our members voted unanimously for the addition of a new clause to our Club Constitution.
Club Operating
Following the EGM our members had the opportunity to work the HF bands using the station that had been setup outside.
Paul G4HLF writes:
‘We started out on 40m, and while it was pretty quiet initially, conditions really improved as the evening went on. We were certainly not short of contacts! Using the 44ft doublet, we were getting some cracking 59+ reports running the Icom 7300 at 100 watts.
By the end of the evening, we’d made a brilliant 23 contacts across 8 different DXCCs, all exclusively on 40m!
A massive shout-out and well done to Daniel M7IBX and Toby M7TBQ who took over the station for the latter part of the evening and worked the majority of those stations – you both did a sterling job!
It was fantastic to see the interest from all our members.’

In addition to all the activities, the meeting offered an opportunity to catch-up with other members, meet new members and discuss some of the radio related activities and projects we have working on during the last month.
Thank you to everyone that helped, attended and made the meeting a fun and interesting event.
