Christie Digital Systems donate Laser Projector to BARC

Pal 2E0XEX and Steven G4WBI are both members of Bracknell Amateur Radio Club and attend our meetings and join our Radio ‘Nets’ regularly. Pal and Steven also both work at Christie Digital Systems based in Wokingham, Berkshire. Having attended many meetings, Pal and Steven couldn’t help but notice the shortcomings of the current club projector setup used for our presentations. Having only VGA connectivity the resolution and quality was rather lacking, projecting a small and not particularly bright or focused image on our small screen.

Pal and Steven said that they may be able to help and invited Club Secretary, Colin M0XCA, to visit Christie’ at their Wokingham offices. The services provided to the Cinema industry and Corporate Sectors by Christie are second to none, with supply, installation and support services available. The equipment is built to the very highest specification and backed-up by equally high standard of support and on-site field servicing.

Following a very enjoyable and eye-opening tour around the departments and facilities, Pal & Steven, on behalf of Christie, very generously and kindly presented our club with a Christie Laser Projector to replace our ageing setup.

We wasted no time in putting the new projector to use at our April club meeting and the improvement was astounding. The ease of set-up and connection with all possible connectivity available made setting-up so easy. Even better, Steven attended our meeting and showed us how to use the projector and remote control. When powered on, the sharp, bright, colourful and large image was fantastic with even the smallest of text being readable from the back of the room. We definitely didn’t need to switch the lights off like we usually need to do.

To complement the fantastic Christie projector, another of our members, committee member Roy M0WTP kindly donated a large projector screen, allowing us to display a much larger image than previously.

The Bracknell Amateur Radio Club would like to thank Pal, Steven and everyone at Christie Digital Systems for their kind generosity of such a high quality projector. Our club meetings and presentations will benefit as a result for many years to come.
