Bracknell ARC Celebrates it’s 50th Year in 2021

This August, Bracknell Amateur Radio Club members will be celebrating the Club’s 50th year with a BBQ for all current, former and founding members.

The earliest documentation currently known to mention BARC dates back to 1971, when a small column article appeared in ‘Radio Communication’ announcing the formation of a new club for amateur radio enthusiasts in Bracknell, asking if any local operators or electronic enthusiasts would like to join the new club.

Dave G3YMC, now an honorary member of BARC remembers…

The club originally held meetings in a room at the back of the
Jack O’Newbury in Binfield. The first meeting I attended was January
1972 when they had moved to the Market Inn next to Bracknell station,
that may have been the first meeting there as I remember being invited
to the December one at the Jack on Monday evenings. It moved to Coopers
Hill (also near the station) around a year later.
