BARC – First 4M (70MHz) lunchtime Net
Thursday 18th Feb 2021 at 12-noon marked the first BARC lunchtime Net on 70.475MHz. It was good to hear so many Hams on the inaugural 4m Net and the outcome was positive given that most on the net were working from temporary homemade antennas.
There was a noticeable level of local QRM on the frequency in Lower Earley, but others reporting almost no QRM in Bracknell.
The group on the Net were:
- M7RDG. Brett. Reading
- 2E0XBZ. Martin. Bracknell
- M7TED. Steve Bracknell
- M7RWJ. Ray. Bracknell
- G4KFK. Mike. Bracknell
- M0HBK. Carlos. Sunningdale
- G4DDN. Graham. Bracknell
- 2E0XDA. Colin. Lower Earley
The 4m 70MHz band is gaining popularity and together with the 6m band is nicknamed The Friendly Band.
It is hoped that the Thursday lunchtime 4m Net can become a regular weekly event, or possibly alternate with our existing 2m or 70cm Net.
If you are free on a Thursday lunchtime, please join us at 12-noon on 70.475MHz FM.
Mike G4KFK has written an interesting article on use of the 4-metre (70MHz) Band which is available on our website HERE.
