Marine Radio in the 1980’s by Mike G4KFK

In the 1980’s Mike G4KFK was a Ship’s Radio Officer, not only being responsible for the ships multiple communications methods, but also the testing and maintennce of the equipment. Other responsibilities included being responsible for weather reports, First Aid, Fire fighting and many other areas of life aboard ship.

For our October meeting, Mike G4KFK gave us a talk not only on Marine Radio and it’s progression through the years, but also on the installation and use of Amateur Radio aboard a Canal Boat.

Mike kindly allowed us to video both of his presentations which can be viewed below or directly via YouTube.

Thanks also to Steve M7TED for Videoing, editing and producing our club presentations
